Trying to Lose Weight but Nothing is Changing?

LOOK AT THESE 5 THINGS FIRST

1. How are you actually sleeping?

  • Poor sleep can influence hunger, appetite regulation and food choices — while also reducing your energy and motivation to move. Before cutting calories further, look at your sleep quality, duration and consistency.

2. Are you actually eating enough?

  • Chronically eating too little can lead to fatigue, reduced training performance, increased hunger and lower spontaneous activity. Sometimes the answer isn’t another cut — you may need a period at maintenance first.

3. What about your stress?

  • Chronic stress can affect sleep, appetite, cravings and eating behaviours — and may make weight management more difficult. Your plan needs to consider what’s happening outside of your food intake, too.

4. Have you looked deeper?

  • If your progress genuinely doesn’t match your intake and activity, it may be worth reviewing your bloods — thyroid function, glucose regulation, insulin resistance and nutrient status.

5. Have you actually seen a dietitian?

  • Before cutting out more foods, dropping your calories again, or adding another supplement — have someone assess your actual intake, portions, protein, fibre, training, lifestyle and medical history.

Sometimes you don't need to eat less. You need a better strategy.

The bottom line

Weight loss isn’t always about eating less. If progress has stalled, look at the bigger picture — sleep, stress, nutrition, activity, hormones, metabolic health and your overall lifestyle. A personalised strategy can help identify what’s really getting in the way and make weight loss more sustainable.
